1/160th Scale

GEMINI TITAN

Only 8 inches tall this micro scale model of the Titan is made by Neubauer Rocketry which as far as we can tell is currently not an active company. Too bad...it's a nice kit with a full body wrap so the cosmetic details are all done for you. It took us about 2 hours and 2 beers to build this. It flies on a 13mm motor and features streamer recovery. Our model is too small to fit even one human astronaut however, the first manned Gemini flight took place on March 23, 1965, lasted 04 hours, 52 minutes 31 seconds. Astronauts Virgil "Gus" Grissom and John W. Young made three orbits around Earth. The only major incident during the mission involved a contraband corned beef sandwich that Young had snuck on board. The crew each took a few bites before the sandwich had to be restowed. The crumbs it released could have wreaked havoc with the craft's electronics, so the crew were reprimanded when they returned to Earth.
